Why doula access matters

Access to compassionate end-of-life care should not be determined by financial means. The Doula Access Program was created to bridge this gap and ensure that all individuals and families can receive the support they need during life's most challenging transitions.

Through partnerships with trained doulas, community organizations, and generous donors, we are able to provide comprehensive support services including emotional guidance, practical assistance, legacy work, and family support.

About Richard, the legacy donor

This program is the inspiration of a generous donor whose 94-year-old father was in immense pain and was unwilling to return to a hospital. He chose Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED). While the caregiver scrambled to set up hospice care, she also reached out to a doula. Through collaboration, an available, experienced doula was found who was able to come on a Sunday, with short notice. The doula immediately bonded with Richard, validated his choice to VSED, helped him make his wishes known to his family, and educated and cared for his caregivers.
